22 pupils from Schillergymnasium Hof, together with Pia and Julian from pics4peace, thought about our democracy and our Grundgesetz. After all, we have been living in peace for almost 80 years now, longer than ever before in our history. As our our own state and a democratic society for 75 years now.

We are increasingly aware that this cannot be taken for granted and that there are repeated attacks on our free society and our Grundgesetz from within our society. That is why the young people decided to make their statements in a creative way and to counter the arguments of supporters of extremist attitudes. The intensive work paid off.

The results were impressive:

  •     One of the groups produced short video clips, ideal for social media (Instagram, TikTok), which humorously summed up the importance of the German Grundgesetz or individual fundamental rights. Three touching poems were written
    • as a congratulation on the Grundgesetz's 75th birthday,
    • as a love letter to democracy and
    • as a statement about social justice and prejudices.
  • A 15-minute short film was convincing with a captivating concept in which the rulers of a newly founded country discussed its constitution and defined fundamental rights.
  • Another short film offered a metaphorical journey through the monastery and cleverly linked the surroundings with the principles of the Grundgesetz and individual fundamental rights
  • Finally, the poster team impressed with a three-dimensional solution on the topic of "equal rights" in the form of an outfit made of paper and cardboard to wear, which they presented in a photo shoot (see pics below).

Some of the results are already available on YouTube and/or Instagram; the others will be added step by step.
You can find different kind of posts on the topic on Instagram under the highlight „Grundgesetz".

Big thanks to the Institute for Political Education of the HSF and to Kloster Banz, for making the workshop possible!
