We see that many people sympathize with right-wing populists and extremists and even use their expletive-laden vocabulary. Even people we wouldn't have expected suddenly believe in "simple solutions," although a little reflection makes it clear that nothing is really solved. Something must have gone awry that we can't quite put our finger on.
There is a justified loss of trust in politics and the churches. There are fears. Also and especially about the future. There are losers in our society, even though they have done nothing wrong in their lives. There is anger and rage and envy. And people who want to seize on this and use it for their own ends.
And on the other side there is the concrete exclusion of people, insults and violence, victims because of religion, skin color, otherness; conspiracy theories that are believed, ...
Completely twisted and complicated all this.
Maybe if we talk to individuals, ask them what they think, what makes them tick, what moves them, we'll get a better idea of what's going on. That's how we came up with the idea of having a stand in the city of Würzburg. We also found fellow campaigners who support us and work with us: Felix from the Stadtjugendring and his team are also involved! For our campaign, we have stuck one of them on a wheel of fortune with topics that make up our lives. Thanks for that, Madeleine and Felix! It turned out great!
On Nov., 21 we want to address the passers-by and ask them to turn this special wheel of fortune and participate. You have to take your luck into your own hands. Your life too. And shape it.
When the wheel stops at one of them, there are three questions. The aim is to find out what comes to mind, what the individual thinks is good or bad, what he or she wants to change, or what needs to be done. If possible, we will record the statements so that they can be published and also passed on to politicians.
As a thank you for taking part, we invite the participants to a hot punch, where we offer to discuss the topic in more depth. We believe that talking to each other can help.
What is clear is that we want to be positive. And also want to think together about what to do if someone has a negative experience. Oh dear, will it all work out like that?
Our team is: Lucas, Max, Anna, Tobias, Johanna, Elmaz and Steffi. We are definitely in a good mood and fully motivated! :-) Keep your fingers crossed for us!
